With more and more news about Microsoft releasing the Win11 system, leaked versions of Win11 are also circulating on the Internet. This leak confirms the existence of Win11, but friends who want to upgrade to Win11 and try it out should not be anxious. There are some precautions that you need to know when upgrading to Win11. Please read these precautions before deciding whether to upgrade to Win11.

Before upgrading:

1. Think clearly about why you want to upgrade

If you have been using Win7 for more than ten years, and now suddenly Now that I have jumped to Win11, I will probably complain about it for a while, such as "Why are all the functions that are very useful on Win7 gone?", "Why does this place look so unpleasant", "Why can't the games that I played before can't run normally?" and other questions, which can be summed up in two words: get used to it.

2. Data backup (data is priceless)

Upgrading directly from Win10 to Win11 will retain personal files by default and delete all installed software! Therefore, if you have important files (or software) on your computer, you must back them up in advance. Data is priceless!

3. Upgrade and installation problems

You may encounter TPM2.0 problems. My approach is to turn on the safe mode in the BIOS, and then the installation and upgrade were successful.

4. Old files and disk space

Be sure to ensure that the system disk has more than 40-50GB of space before upgrading, otherwise it will fail halfway and unpredictable problems will occur during the rollback.

After upgrade:

1. Font and Chinese issues

After successful installation, the default is all English. At this time, you can set it to the time zone and language of our country. The system will automatically download the Chinese font package (provided that you are connected to the Internet), but in this case the system will not completely change to Chinese.

2. Device driver issues

Once the installation is successful, you will find that the resolution is far less than what the display should have. In fact, there is no need to worry, the system will automatically download the driver when you are connected to the Internet. If it really doesn't work (after a few hours), just download and install it from the official website related to your hardware.

3. Microsoft Store problem

If you cannot connect to the Internet, there are too many problems involved, and they may not be effective for you. We have summarized 3 general solutions:

It doesn’t matter if the picture cannot be displayed! (There are only a handful of good things here) As long as you can download a few designated programs.

　①Modify dns to 4.2.2.1 or 4.2.2.2.

②Turn off the proxy, Settings--Network--Proxy--Close.

　③Control Panel--Internet Options--Delete Records in General--Restore the default state in Advanced. Finally, enter services.msc in Windows+R to find Microsoft Account Sign-in Assistant and right-click to start it.

4. Old files and previous programs

Before upgrading, it was mentioned that "personal files will be retained by default, and all installed software will be deleted!". Deleting software means canceling the binding between the computer and the software, deleting the registry, etc. All the files of the previous software were saved to the "Windows.old" folder on the system disk.

Windows.old stores most of the software that was previously installed on the system disk (if you changed the default path when installing the software, that's a different matter). This folder may be very large. I have more than 100 GB here.

Windows.old also stores files needed for system rollback.

If those software are completely useless to you or there is no need to return to Win10 in the future, you can completely delete this folder to free up a lot of space.

You may encounter permission problems when deleting. You can first go to the "Properties--Security" of this folder to change the permissions for adding, deleting, and modifying the current user (the specific method will not be updated yet, and the solution can be solved by checking the information).
